UI/UX Designer

Remote (Nepal)

About the role

Design at Novelty Lab is not a service function that receives briefs and returns mockups. You are embedded with engineering and product from the first conversation about a customer problem through the shipped pixel. Our customers are enterprise teams deploying agentic systems into workflows that touch real money and regulated data — the UI has to earn their trust on first load.

The work spans research, interaction design, visual design, and the systems thinking that keeps a growing product coherent. You might run a usability session on an approval queue flow one week and define the component patterns for a new audit log surface the next. We ship fast, which means your designs need to be practical — detailed enough to build from, flexible enough to evolve.

We take inspiration from products like Linear and Vercel: dense information presented clearly, motion used sparingly and purposefully, and a visual language that feels precise rather than decorative. If you care about the invisible details — spacing, hierarchy, micro-interactions, empty states — you will fit in here.

What you'll do

  • Own the end-to-end design process for features: discovery, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, and design QA through launch.
  • Build and maintain the design system — components, tokens, patterns, and documentation — so engineering can ship consistent UI without waiting on every screen.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing with customers and internal stakeholders to validate flows before and after they ship.
  • Partner closely with engineers on implementation: review PRs for visual fidelity, write specs that reduce ambiguity, and iterate based on technical constraints.
  • Design for enterprise requirements: complex data tables, role-based views, audit trails, approval workflows, and accessibility that meets WCAG 2.1 AA.
  • Create marketing and product visuals when needed — landing pages, case study layouts, and social assets that match the product's design language.

What we're looking for

  • 4+ years of product design experience with a portfolio that shows shipped work — not just concept explorations.
  • Strong visual and interaction design skills: you can design a dashboard, a settings page, and an onboarding flow with equal confidence.
  • Proficiency in Figma (or equivalent) including auto-layout, components, variants, and design system maintenance.
  • Experience designing for technical or B2B products where users need to complete complex tasks efficiently, not just browse.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices — you design for keyboard, screen readers, and contrast from the start.
  • Clear written communication: you can write design rationale, annotate specs, and give feedback that engineers find actionable.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing for AI or agentic products — confidence indicators, streaming states, approval gates, and the UX patterns that make automated behavior feel trustworthy.
  • Basic front-end literacy — enough HTML/CSS/React to prototype in code or review implementation details in PRs.
  • Motion design skills for purposeful transitions and loading states that reduce perceived latency.

Interview process

  1. 01

    Intro call (30 min)

We talk about your background, what kinds of products you've designed, and what you're looking for in your next role.

  2. 02

    Portfolio review (60 min)

Walk us through 2–3 projects you're proud of. We will ask about your process, the constraints you worked within, and what you would do differently today.

  3. 03

Design exercise (async + review, 90 min total)

A take-home scoped to a real problem from our product, followed by a review session where you present your thinking.

  4. 04

    Team fit (30 min)

Meet engineers and product folks you would work with daily. This is as much for you to evaluate us as the reverse.
